Adani Power Limited, India’s largest private thermal power producer, announced its Q1 FY27 results on July 22, 2026, delivering its strongest-ever quarterly performance. The company posted a consolidated net profit after tax of ₹4,866.60 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, up from ₹3,305.13 crore in the same period last year, marking a 47.2% surge . The results come alongside a major capital-raising announcement that has caught investor attention.

Alongside the earnings, the board approved a fresh fundraising plan of up to ₹15,000 crore through Qualified Institutions Placement and raised the company’s debt ceiling to ₹1,00,000 crore to support future expansion plans.

Growth was driven by a significant increase in power demand, higher operating capacity, and improved tariff realisation (Business Standard) , with additional support from PPA tie-ups of previously open capacity at the Butibori and Mutiara power plants

The quarter also saw a notable strategic move. Adani Power acquired the 180 MW Churk thermal power plant, a 24% equity stake in Jaiprakash Power Ventures, and an 11.49% equity stake in Prayagraj Power Generation Company under the resolution plan for Jaiprakash Associates. Commenting on this expansion, CEO S B Khyalia said the company is diversifying into domestic and international hydro power projects while preparing to enter the nuclear power sector, remaining committed to supporting India’s long-term energy goal .Sector-wide demand also played a role. India recorded strong power demand due to a hotter-than-usual summer, with peak power demand touching a record 270.8 GW in May 2026 .
