Patel Engineering Limited (PEL), a powerhouse in India’s infrastructure sector, has kicked off March 2026 with a massive expansion of its order book. The company recently secured two major contracts totaling approximately ₹1,140.78 crore, reinforcing its dominance in hydropower and dam construction across South Asia.
These wins—the Renuka Ji Dam Project in Himachal Pradesh and the Dorjilung Hydroelectric Project in Bhutan—underscore Patel Engineering’s technical expertise in handling complex, large-scale civil works.
1. The Renuka Ji Dam Project: Strengthening India’s Water Security
Following its L1 (lowest bidder) status earlier this year, Patel Engineering formally received the Letter of Award (LoA) from the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) for Package-1 of the Renuka Ji Dam.
* Contract Value: ₹910.08 Crore (including GST).
* Location: Sirmaur District, Himachal Pradesh.
Timeline: 30 months.
* Scope of Work: The project involves critical infrastructure, including:
Construction of three diversion tunnels (9.5m diameter).
Development of 6 km of approach and access roads.
Installation of advanced hydro-mechanical and monitoring systems.
This project is of national importance, designed to provide a steady water supply to Delhi while boosting regional renewable energy.
2. Going International: The Dorjilung Project in Bhutan
On March 20, 2026, the company further expanded its footprint by securing a ₹230.70 crore contract for the 1,125 MW Dorjilung Hydroelectric Power Project in Bhutan.
* Client: Dorjlung Hydro Power Ltd (a JV between Druk Green Power Corp and Tata Power).
* Key Work: Pre-construction civil and hydromechanical works, including diversion and highway road tunnels.
* Strategic Impact: This strengthens the energy partnership between India and Bhutan, positioning Patel Engineering as a preferred partner for cross-border renewable energy projects.
